The origins of the sabre are somewhat unclear, and it may come from designs such as the falchion or the scimitar used in the Middle Ages by such Central Asian cavalry as the Turks, Tatars, and Mongols. The Sabre first appeared in Europe with the arrival of the Hungarians in the 10th Century. Originally, the sabre was used as a cavalry weapon that gradually came to replace the various straight bladed cutting sword types on the battlefield. As time went on, sabres became insignia of rank in many armies. If your opponent plays an unsuccessful defense against one of your hidden attacks that is not a Power Blow, they cannot make an Exertion for a defense to defend that attack. You must discard an attack to play a Non-Basic Attack from your hand.

The Sabre is a type of sword with a curved, single-edged blade and a hilt that allows for a one-handed grip. Originating in Eastern Europe, it was later adopted by cavalry units in Western Europe. Commonly used in military conflicts during the 18th and 19th centuries due to their light weight and quick striking ability. They were often used in slashing attacks against opponents and were particularly effective against lightly-armored opponents. UPSIDE PREVENTION: If your opponent plays an unsuccessful defense against one of your Hidden attacks that is not a Power Blow, they cannot make an Exertion for a defense to defend that attack. The Scythe is believed to have been invented around 500 B.C. and the name comes from the Scythian people of Ancient Iran, who used it to harvest hemp fields. Historically used as a farm implement, the scythe was also employed by frightened farmers in defense against wild animals and bandits. There are many styles of the scythe, some even being designed for use in warfare, such as the War Scythe. UPSIDE: If you take damage or Ability Loss due to effects your opponent controls last turn, you may declare one Upper Basic Attack you play this turn to be a Head Shot. DOWNSIDE: You cannot modify your attacks with In-Game or Pre-Game card effects, except to make a Head Shot.
