Originally from the south of China, these short Dao type swords eventually spread throughout China, gaining popularity among the practicioners of Wing Chun and Shaolin martial arts. The swords are usually wielded in pairs, and even kept in the same scrabbard. Due to their short size, they are easily concealable. The hilt design lends itself to being used as a type of brass knuckles for non-lethal attacks.

He was found by May-Ling Shen and taught about his immortality, though he was not regarded as a good student. Kiem Sun seeks a way to make better warriors, based off his experience battling the Mongols. He began experimenting with the Quania Root, and lives on Holy Ground so he will not be disturbed by The Game as he searches for his own version of the Prize.

The Thai Chi Sword, or Taijijian, originated in China around the 7th Century BCE. One-handed versions have blades varying from 18 to 31 inches in length, with the weight of an average sword of 28-inch blade-length between 1.5 to 2 pounds. The blades are double edged and straight, with a pommel and sometimes a tassel. One of the four major weapons of Chinese folklore, it is known as "The Gentlemen of Weapons."
