The katana is a long curved blade with a chisel like point. Because the katana is a single-edged sword, it is also referred to as a back-sword, meaning it had an unsharpened edge or back, rather than a sharpened edge on both sides. Because of its curved shape and chisel point, the katana could be used as both a slashing and thrusting weapon. You may attack to areas you just blocked. The Tachi was the customary single edged sword for the Japanese until the 10th century, when there was need for the Japanese horsemen to have a weapon for surprise attacks. During this time, the Tachi was shortened and called Katana to keep the distinction between the two. The Katana has always been known as the weapon of the Samurai, which were the guardians of Japan. Its thin blade and signature curved design distinguish it from other swords. You may attack to areas you just blocked. Your Non-Special Attacks that cover only one grid do one less damage.

Katana is the word for "sword" in the Japanese language. A curved, single-edged sword traditionally used by the samurai. The katana was primarily used for cutting, although its curvature is generally gentle enough to allow for effective thrusting as well. Though it is intended for use with a two-handed grip, many extant historical Japanese sword arts include at least one or two single-handed techniques. It is traditionally worn edge up. You must be Connor MacLeod to use this Weapon of Choice. You may attack to areas you just blocked.

Dark Duncan's Katana When Duncan became overwhelmed by a Dark Quickening, his fighting style also changed. Although he kept the same sword, his use of it was drastically different. Duncan became more flamboyant and methodical in his style, while disregarding his opponent's style. UPSIDE: Your first attack this turn may be to areas you just defended regardless of restrictions on the defense played. DOWNSIDE: You cannot take control of your opponent's cards.

Michael Kent's Muramasa Katana Crafted by the famous swordsmith Sengo Muramasa at the end of Japan's Momoyama Period and given to a samurai of the Koto family, this katana is one of the finest blades ever made. The sword cut through five condemned men in a single swing during its initial test, with the results recorded on the tang. Although it is unclear when and how Kent came to own this weapon, he clearly spent a handsome sum acquiring it. UPSIDE: You may attack to areas you just blocked. If you successfully defend an attack by playing a card with "Slash" in the title as a block, that card becomes your first attack during your Attack Phase. DOWNSIDE: Your non-Special Attacks that cover only one grid square do one less damage.

Connor MacLeod's Rosewood Tachi Both the katana and tachi share some striking similarities, including a single edge with a curved blade and tsuba. However, each sword has its own unique characteristics. The tachi features a longer blade length with deeper curve. In contrast to the katana, the tachi isn't really good at stabbing. Whereas the katana excels at thrusting and cutting, the tachi excels at slashing. You must be Connor MacLeod to use this Weapon of Choice. This Weapon of Choice does not count against your Pre-Game limit. UPSIDE: You may attack to areas you just blocked. DOWNSIDE: Your Non-Special Attacks that cover only one grid do one less damage.

Tak Ne's Masamune Katana This legendary sword was finished in 593 B.C. in Japan by master swordsmith Masamune and given as a wedding present to his new son-in-law Tak Ne. The weapon was forged from an unnamed ore Masamune found in the nearby mountains. This sword was so strong that it often broke lesser blades during battle, leaving the unfortunate wielder weaponless and at Tak Ne's mercy. UPSIDE: You may attack to areas you just blocked. COST: If you play only one attack, your opponent must Discard a dodge to play a dodge from their Hand. DOWNSIDE: Your Non-Special Attacks that cover only one grid do one less damage.

The Katar is a double edged pinching sword developed in India and used by warriors called Rajputs. Its distinctiveness is in the horizontal handle which makes it ideal for close combat situations. With the blade positioned in front of the knuckles and the side guards allowing defense by blocking with the forearm, it is considered a fast and deadly weapon usually used in pairs. You may play this Weapon with another One-Handed Weapon of Choice. You may play an additional Basic Attack for each Katar in your Pre-Game. You may not include Evades, Dodges, or Back Aways in your deck.
